Hi! First off, thanks for stopping by!

My name is Sarah and I live in Montgomery, Alabama. I am very much a southern girl who loves to cook and get her hands dirty in the garden!

I started this blog in July 2008 on a whim. I figured that since I was getting into cooking and spent so much time looking at other people’s food blogs, why not start my own?

It has gone through several reincarnations since I started it on blogger, but I think I’ve settled into a design I like and I finally bought the domain. All of this is way too late in coming considering I’m a web designer by trade. That’s the thing though, you spend all your day at work building and designing websites for other people so the last thing you want to do is spend your free time building yet another website… hence the reason I have no online portfolio right now. Yeah yeah… I know!

I am born and bred in the south and learned to cook from watching my grandmothers and my mom. I never really took a big interest in cooking though until I started working with a guy named Randy Nixon. He inspired me to start really cooking, making it something fun, not just a mandatory chore. I started collecting recipes from all over the internet, gathering recipes from friends and family and taking a real interest in food in general. My cooking as even inspired me to start gardening and canning. OMG. Canning. LOVE IT!

I cook whatever I’m in the mood for or whatever I think looks good. I’m not much of a baker, but I do some every now and then. Mostly cakes and such. I can’t do a good dough to save my life. Any tips would be much appreciated, btw!

As for outside of being a foodie, I have two wonderful kitty meow-meows, Tybee and Amiss who like to make walking in the kitchen as difficult as possible and hope for scraps of raw meat. I think Tybee can HEAR turkey from across the house.

I am an AVID Rush fan!

That’s me at a Rush pre-show party in Nov. 2012 before the Atlanta show. (I grew up in Atlanta, by the way, and go back often to visit the wonderful farmer’s markets!)

And that’s the Rush tattoo I got before the Rush show in Las Vegas in May 2008. I do post about Rush stuff every once in awhile, so beware!

Other than not posting enough, I think that’s about it. Feel free to contact me with any comments or questions! Thanks!
